Starting in 1992, until 2016, the USDA reported chemical usage data on some vegetable crops, by fresh and processed markets. As of 2018, these crops are no longer separated. In an effort to not "double report" annual usage data in the PUDS system, which interpolates unsurveyed years, these crops are reported as one crop in earlier years and in 2018. Unsurveyed years, are interpolated as fresh and processed from the time the USDA started separating the two markets until 2017. For example, In the PUDS system, carrots are interpolated from 1990-1997. Starting in 1998, fresh and processed carrots are individually interpolated until 2017. Then in 2018, carrots are reported as one crop, and will be interpolated as one, for future years. To get the full chemical usage of carrots across all years, select all three crops individually: carrots; carrots, fresh; and carrots, processed.
