Dietary Risk in Conventional and Organic Foods:

How do I use this?

Select Data Parameters

  • Select Food:

Select a food for which you would like to see pesticide data.

    • Select Year:

Select a year in which the food samples were collected and tested.

      Dietary Risk Indicators
      Total Samples

      Total number of samples tested.

      Number of Residues Found

Residues include parent active ingredient, metabolite, and isomers.

Average Number of Residues per Sample

Total number of positive residues divided by the number of samples

      % Samples with Zero Residues

Percentage of total samples with no residues found.

      Analyte

Active ingredient (AI), metabolite, isomer or total AI.

      Total Samples

      Total number of samples tested.

      Number of Positives

      Number of Positives

      Percent Positive

Number of positive samples divided by total number of samples.

      Mean of Positives (ppm)

Mean of the positive samples; sum of all reported residue levels divided by number of positive samples.

      Fungicides applied after harvest.

      Number of Positives

Number of samples with a residue at or above the limit of quantification.

      Organic Mean of Positives (ppm)

Mean of the positive residues in organic samples; sum of all reported residue levels divided by number of positive samples.

      Tolerance or Action Level (ppm)

The maximum amount of a pesticide allowed to remain in or on a food.

Action Threshold (AT) (5% of Tolerance)

The Action Threshold is generally 5% of the tolerance level.

      Residues Over Action Threshold

Number of residues whose residue level exceeds the Action Threshold.

      Conventional Mean of Positives (ppm)

Mean of the positive residues in conventional samples; sum of all reported residue levels divided by number of positive samples.

      Number of Inadvertent Residues

An inadvertent residue is one for which the residue level is less than 10% of the mean conventional residue level.
